What sports rights does Prime Video hold? 'Thursday Night Football,' NBA, NASCAR, more (2025)

When a customer thinks of Prime Video, they will likely think of its beloved original titles like “The Boys” and “Reacher.” Barring that, shoppers might think of Prime Video as a fun added benefit to an Amazon Prime subscription, but the number of customers who think of the streamer as a sports platform is likely much smaller.

However, that would be a mistake, especially heading into the back half of 2025. Prime Video has an underrated lineup of live sports, with games from multiple professional leagues. We’ll let you know which sports you can find on Prime Video now, and which others the streamer is planning to add in the near future.

What sports are available on Prime Video?

What live sports will Prime Video offer in 2025?

We’ll start with the most obvious one here: Prime Video will continue to offer its package of NFL “Thursday Night Football” games in 2025, including a game on Christmas Day and a contest on Black Friday, as well as an exclusive Wild Card playoff game.

The WNBA also plays games on Prime Video, including 20 exclusive regular season matchups, the Commissioner’s Cup Final, and a first-round playoff series. Then, the NBA joins Prime Video for the first time in fall 2025. The streamer will get 66 regular-season games in the United States, as well as NBA Cup knockout round games, play-in tournament games, first-round playoff games, and even G League games.

Starting this season, the NASCAR Cup Series offers five races on Prime Video, and the streamer is also the home for practice and qualifying sessions during the first half of the season.

The National Women’s Soccer League plays 27 Friday night matches on Prime Video, as well as a quarterfinal match.

In the combat sports arena, Prime Video carries AEW pay-per-view events, as well as ONE Championship MMA fights, and Premier Boxing Champions events.

The platform is also slowly increasing the number of regional sports offerings it has in its arsenal. Prime Video currently distributes Seattle Storm WNBA games regionally; on the MLB side, it offers some New York Yankees games in the Bronx Bombers’ home television footprint; and Prime Video also streams all non-nationally televised Seattle Kraken games in that team’s home market. Currently, this is Prime’s only domestic NHL rights.

Finally, Prime Video also carries 20 games from the Overtime Elite basketball league, as well as Professional Pickleball Association events, and UTR Pro Tennis Tour matches.

What sports rights could Prime Video add in the future?

Prime Video is always on the lookout for new sports opportunities, and could be involved in talks for UFC rights as that fighting promotion seeks new partners after 2025. MLB is also shopping ESPN’s former package of games, but Prime Video hasn’t publicly jumped into the fray for those games yet.

Does Prime Video offer sports in 4K?

While Prime Video has offered some English Premier League soccer games in the United Kingdom in 4K, it doesn’t provide a wide range of 4K sporting events in the United States.

Do you have to pay extra for sports on Prime Video?

No, Prime Video offers all of its sports rights on each plan tier. Ad-supported customers get the same sports access as ad-free ones do, with plans starting at $9 per month.
