You can't change the wheel in a day but you can be clearer. Liam Livingstone, for instance, backing away. Showing your stumps to someone who is targeting the stumps and spinning it both ways is not the best option.

Ex-England captain on TNT SportsIt was Varun Chakravarthy's pace. He is not a big spinner of the ball. He talks about over-spin. It is bounce and subtle variations. England were scared of playing across him because of his skiddy nature. Jos Buttler played him nicely by using the crease and when he is short not trying to hit too square.
England will have to talk about playing him and should play him better.

India spinner Varun Chakravarthy: "I am used to seeing such pitches in IPL. I know it is for the seamers but there is a length which I bowl where it will be helpful. I am trying to keep it away from their arc - a just short length.
"The point behind me putting in more work in is to extract extra bounce. I cannot beat batsmen with side spin the only way I can beat batsman is bounce. I am would say I am still seven out of 10 in that. Still more work to do."

India captain Suryakumar Yadav: "The energy, the way we started after winning the toss set the benchmark. We took it from there. All of the bowlers had good plans. The way we batted was the icing on the cake.
"We wanted to stick to our strengths [by picking three spinners]. Hardik could take the responsibility of taking the new ball so I had the cushion to play the extra spinner. All three of them did a wonderful job.
"We have been working really hard with our fielding coach. There is only one demand that we have good energy and then take the half chances."

Image source, Getty ImagesMore from Jos Buttler on Jofra Archer: "He looked good. He always looks good and is a superstar and looked threatening. He could have had a few more wickets and Mark Wood was bowling fast as well. To see them operating in tandem is exciting.
"We want to be aggressive and watchable. We are up against a team who are ultra aggressive as well so it's really exciting. But venue to venue you have to assess the conditions and play well."
On Brendon McCullum helping him rediscover the joy of playing: "It's always there. Sometimes you wear the results and are desperate to do well. I am really enjoying the environment. I am a big McCullum fan and always was so great to be working with him in the dressing room."

England captain Jos Buttler: "I think there was a little bit in the wicket early on and probably didn't expect that. They found some movement and we lost wickets. Once you came through that phase it's a pretty good pitch and a really fast scoring ground here."
On whether it's a learning curve some players against spin: "A little bit. We have some good players in there and wanted to enforce the game you want to play. We were not quite capable of doing that today against good bowlers but we were better for the run out and look forward to the next one."

Ex-England captain on TNT SportsThat was total destruction from Abhishek Sharma. He gave a decent chance to Adil Rashid early in his innings but there wasn't much margin for error bowling to him. England went pace heavy with their attack and if you're not scared of them the ball travels miles. You have to be really accurate. England looked a bit rusty and India were far too good and powerful.

Player of the match Abhishek Sharma, who made a blistering 79 off 34 balls: "I just wanted to express myself. The feeling the captain and coach have given to me as a youngster is tremendous. The pitch was sticking a bit, and it was getting a bit of extra bounce, but the way our bowlers bowled was good. I thought we would chase something around 160 or 170 but the way they bowled that was really good."
On his approach: "It is about expressing myself and going out an playing. Even when I was playing in the India team for the first time the plan was pretty simple because the way I played in the IPL really helped me with this. The team environment and the captain have told me from the first day to just go and hit shots, even if it is from the first ball.
"When it comes from the captain it means a lot as a youngster and I've been doing that. I think the way they bowled I was ready for their plans. I knew they would go short and check my patience. I had a plan and executed it well."
